Fire Emblem: Tower Infinite 84
Development
1-bit Strategy Gaming
True to the original Fire Emblem series, Tower Infinite 84 allows the player to recruit certain enemies to their army, trade items, and progress through level-ups and dropped equipment. There are 3 different soldier classes, each of which specialize in different weapons, along with a dedicated healing class. On the battlefield, the player may encounter powerful boss enemies that guarantee rare items!
Performance Management
Because of the limited hardware capabilities of the TI-84, it was important to optimize algorithms to get the game to a playable performance speed. Taking the time to refine processes like name generation and enemy pathfinding reduced load times significantly—upwards of 75%! Careful memory management was tantamount to ensuring a feature-complete product.
Extensive Arsenal
The list of equipment the player can acquire is a whopping 50 items long. There are 27 weapons, some of which have 1 of 9 unique interactions. Additionally, there are 6 healing staves with 3 distinct effects, 3 healing items, and 14 stat boosting items. As players ascend the tower, they gain access to increasingly powerful equipment, enhancing their strategy and survival.
